Re: P6-7 visits to ‘The Cover’/Urquhart Bay Woods
John Muir Award
We are delighted to be working with Ross Watson and his colleagues from the Woodland Trust on a special project at Urquhart Bay Wood (“The Cover”). This is a site of special scientific interest, as it is one of the few ancient wet woodlands left in Europe. Between September and December, we will make several visits to the wood to discover, explore, conserve and share our learning about two specific areas within the woods. Pupils will need wellies, waterproofs, warm clothing, gloves and a snack for every visit! Midge Repellent would also be useful!
Our first visit with The Woodland Trust will take place on Wednesday 12th September. We will be exploring ‘The Cover’, looking at designations, ash die back, rivers and invasive plants. We will be leaving school at 9.30am and returning by 12.45 approximately.
We would appreciate parent helpers to accompany us. 🙂
Please find the permission letter attached. P6-7 The Cover permission letter 2018
Anyone who didn’t get their letters today will be given a paper copy on Monday.
We kindly ask that all permission slips are returned to school as soon as possible (i.e. on Monday or Tuesday.)
Kind regards,
Miss MacDonald, Miss Mullin & Mrs James
