Countries and Nationalities

On Monday, P6/7M had to work in small groups to figure out the French words for different countries and nationalities.  Then they had to figure out the rule for saying in/to a country in French and try to describe how French nationality words change (and why.)

e.g.

en France – in/to France     en Ecosse – in/to Scotland     au pays de Galles – in/to Wales

allemand(e) – German       espagnol(e) – Spanish       gallois(e) – Welsh

Can they explain these two different rules to you at home?
